We have identified 3 areas where we believe iTrack Reading can be particularly beneficial

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling, where in Sweden, approximately 5-8% of the population has dyslexia. Individuals with dyslexia encounter daily challenges due to the misconceptions and inequity surrounding their condition. For instance, in Sweden, students with dyslexia are prohibited from using essential aids like speech synthesis, spell check, or teacher assistance during the national tests.

01

Engagement

The technology requires active engagement from the reader, as it's controlled by their eye movements. This means that if they don't look at the text, the technology won't work. This can be a useful tool for individuals with dyslexia, as it helps improve their ability to focus and interact with the text, leading to an enhanced reading experience.

03

Comprehension

Hearing what you read can have a significant impact on how well you understand, absorb and remember content, especially for individuals with dyslexia. It activates different parts of our brain, which can help to reinforce the meaning of the words and enhance retention of information.

02

Fluency

Having dyslexia can make it hard to decode text, which is the ability to match letters to their corresponding sounds. However, eye-to-speech technology can help to overcome this barrier by providing a multi-sensory approach that reinforces the relationship between language sounds and letters.

04

Pace

By hearing the text aloud, dyslexic individuals can gain a better understanding of the pronunciation of words and improve their ability to recognize and decode unfamiliar words. This can help to expand their vocabulary and improve their overall reading proficiency. The multi-sensory activity can help dyslexic individuals approach reading in a more traditional manner, which enables them to read at a faster pace.

Working on Computer

In a school setting

In every classroom, there is at least one student with dyslexia who struggles with reading on a daily basis. While we strongly believe in the significance of analog reading and learning, we also acknowledge that traditional methods can be particularly challenging for students with dyslexia. This is where iTrack Reading steps in. We view our tool as a complementary resource, rather than a substitute, to traditional learning. Our primary objective is to ensure that all students, irrespective of their learning differences, are given an equal chance to excel and learn.

Language

Learning a new language can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to pronunciation. It's not always easy to know if you're saying a word correctly, or to hear the differences between similar-sounding words. But what if there was a way to hear the words as you read them, without having to stop and switch to an audio recording?

With eye-to-speech...

01

Pronunciation

language learners can improve their pronunciation skills by hearing each word as it's read. This allows learners to better understand how to correctly enunciate words and develop a more natural sounding accent. Eye-to-speech technology is especially helpful for mastering tricky phonetic sounds that might be difficult to understand from written text alone.

03

Independence

language learners can become more independent in their learning. Instead of always relying on a teacher or tutor to help with pronunciation, learners can use this technology to practice on their own. This fosters confidence in their abilities and provides motivation to keep learning.

02

Comprehension

language learners can improve their reading comprehension skills by hearing each word as they read. This helps learners better understand the context of the text, and pick up new vocabulary words more quickly. With eye-to-speech technology, learners can build up their reading skills and move on to more complex texts in their target language.

04

Retention

language learners can retain new vocabulary words more effectively. Hearing each word as they read helps learners build stronger connections between the written and spoken forms of the word, leading to more accurate recall later on. Eye-to-speech technology is especially beneficial for learners who struggle with memorization or have difficulty connecting written words to their spoken forms. This technology reinforces memory of new vocabulary words as learners encounter them in written text, resulting in more effective language learning outcomes.

The value of integration

At iTrack Reading, we understand the importance of language acquisition, especially for people who are trying to integrate into a new country. Learning a new language is a crucial step towards achieving social, cultural, and economic inclusion. We believe that by facilitating effective language learning, we can help individuals overcome communication barriers, reduce isolation, and promote a sense of belonging in their new community. Therefore, our earliest priority is to ensure that our tool reaches the hands of organizations that share this initiative.

Focus

Attention is a precious resource, and in today's fast-paced world, it's increasingly difficult to stay focused on the task at hand. Whether you're trying to study, work, or simply relax with a good book, distractions are everywhere, pulling your attention away from what matters most. This can be especially challenging for individuals with ADHD, dyslexia, or both, as they may struggle with concentration even in the absence of external distractions.

Our eye-to-speech tool offers a unique advantage over traditional reading methods by incorporating both visual and auditory input to enhance your reading experience. Not only does it remove distractions by darkening the parts of the screen you're not focused on, but it also reads the text aloud to you, providing an extra layer of sensory input that can help you stay on track and keep your focus.

01

Immersion

With eye-to-speech technology, you can improve your focus and comprehension by engaging both your visual and auditory senses. By hearing the words you're reading as you follow along with your eyes, you create a more immersive learning experience that can help keep you on task.

03

Efficiency

Many individuals with attention difficulties struggle with reading due to the constant need to refocus and re-engage with the text. By listening to the text as you read, you are constantly reminded to keep reading, making it easier to maintain your focus for longer periods. This can be particularly helpful for those who may struggle with maintaining focus during prolonged reading sessions.

02

Control

By using eye-tracking to control the reading experience, you can read without interruption, eliminating the need to manually adjust settings or pause to refocus your attention. This makes it easier to concentrate on the content and engage with it more deeply, leading to better comprehension and retention.
